Job Description

The Director of Web Operations, under direction of the Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Communications, oversees web operations and web centralization efforts across the university. This position will lead the central website development and hosting strategy, while also strategically directing all Tarleton State University website unit leads in a cohesive, coordinated approach. This position, under the general supervision of the AVP for Marketing and Communications, will also develop and implement standards, guidelines and best practices for web-based communications, in alignment with a university-wide integrated strategy.

Position is on-site in Stephenville, Texas with work hours of Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm or as work requirements indicate which may include after hours, weekends, and holidays.

Must be able to work remotely at the request of the University.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads and develops a university-wide web development strategy to engineer the university’s web presence. Guides the centralization of the functional and organization of web development for the Department of Marketing & Communications, ensuring alignment with the university’s strategic vision, culture, and priorities.

  • Creates and maintains project plans to support division and university initiatives. Identifies the optimal methods to interact with, reach and engage internal and external audiences and stakeholders, identifying and implementing new approaches, technologies and innovations.

  • Develops and implements standards, guidelines and best practices for web development and web operations, in support of a university-wide integrated strategy.

  • Serves on various state, local, university, and system-wide committees. Recommends new departmental and university-wide policies or revisions to existing policies.

  • Oversees the central marcom web team professionals and student employees. Instructs unit leads on best practices, standards, and efficiencies. Benchmarks, follows trends, and establishes long-term goals and aspirations to lead the team effectively.

  • Serves as a liaison and resource to the university on strategic web development and change management initiatives. Builds and implements integrated campaigns to support longer-term, broader strategies executed on a regular cadence to maintain momentum and engagement over time.

  • Assists in creation of key messaging on high-priority web communication efforts to ensure consistency in dissemination.

  • Uses metrics and insights generated to drive improvement in website user experience and engagement. Routinely measures and reports out to stakeholders regarding the impact of centralized web strategy.

  • Performs other duties as assigned and administrative responsibilities.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, management information systems, computer information systems, computer science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ten years of years of progressively responsible management experience in web-based communications, website management, or related field, including supervisory experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong written and oral communications skills. Demonstrated ability to successfully manage projects.

  • Ability to work professionally and harmoniously in a service-oriented position.

  • Self-motivation and ability to manage time efficiently, as well as make quick decisions, with minimal supervision.

  • Critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to collaborate successfully with internal and external teams.

  • Proven ability to generate imaginative solutions and create cost-effective alternatives.

Other Requirements:

Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM or as work requirements indicate; This position requires work beyond normal business hours, weekends, and holidays; This is an on-site position located in Stephenville, Texas.

Salary

Commensurate with experience

Salary is commensurate with experience and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
