Job Description

The Audio-Visual Specialist, under general supervision, performs technology support functions such as troubleshooting, analysis, research, problem-solving, and repairs.  The AV Specialist provides technical and user support for all AV instructional and administrative technology and all AV event support areas. Supported functions include hardware configuration, presentations, video conferences, and customer engagement.  

The Information Technology Services office is located in the Stephenville Campus. Work hours are Mon-Fri 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate, after hours may be required. including occasional weekends.

Must be able to work remotely at the request of the University.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains, improves, supports, and repairs AV systems, including digital signage infrastructure.

  • Coordinates resources and/or work events, including multimedia presentations, audio, live streaming, and sound reinforcement.

  • Troubleshoots a variety of end-user computing and connectivity issues. Confers with personnel (co-workers, faculty, staff, and student employees in resolving problems involving technical matters. Evaluate and follows through on issues and problems until resolved or escalated. Researches problems and recommends solutions. This includes live events, classrooms, conference rooms, and event spaces.

  • Develops and edits departmental documentation regarding system specifications and usage. Documents service requests and problem reports using the department ticketing system. Coordinates with AV integrators for new and updated systems. Assists with new technology deployments.

  • Provides established guidance, recommendations, and solutions in the use or selection of a variety of hardware and software products to achieve end user’s goals and remain in compliance with policy requirements. Ensures work is accurate and in compliance with departmental or project quality standards. Meets with users to determine event needs, direct resources, and work university events.

  • Stays up to date with technology solutions to meet university needs.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four years of related experience in AV communications, presentation technologies, and system troubleshooting.; including live event production experience.

  • 1 year of relevant experience in higher education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Knowledge of computer operations and AV technology.

- Skills in Windows and macOS.

- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and follow policies.

- Strong ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with others.

Salary

Commensurate with experience

The target base annual salary is $35,000 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
